Top Trucking Companies To Own In Right Now

I'm going to attempt something a little odd today, Fools. Even thoughNuverra Environmental Services (NYSE: NES  ) stock makes up 1% of my real-life holdings,I'm going to be giving you three reasons to consider selling the stock today.

Why am I doing this?

Recently, Nobel Prize winner Daniel Kahneman visited Fool headquarters in Virginia. While visiting, he talked about how a number of different biases can lead us to believe we can predict the future with relative certainty. In reality, he argued, we are just deluding ourselves.

It got me to thinking about how I don't write enough about therisksof owning the stocks I own. So, though I don't plan on selling my Nuverra stock right now, I think it's healthy for me to practice and model this behavior.

1. Counting on natural gas to be the next big thing
Nuverra is a company whose goalis to be a one-stop shop to meet all of the water needs of the oil and gas industry. It has set up operations in all of the major shale plays in the United States, and has been building out a massive infrastructure of pipelines, trucking fleets, and water treatment facilities.

So far this year, Rexahn Pharmaceuticals, Inc (NYSEMKT: RNN), Imprimis Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ: IMMY) and Arrowhead Research Corp (NASDAQ: ARWR) are up 186.3%, 157.2% and 142.5%, respectively, since the start of the yearmaking them the best performing small cap biotech stocks for 2014. But given their lackluster performance over the past few years, what is the secret behind their phenomenal 2014 rise and will they keep rising? For starters, none of these small caps have really produced anything in the way of blockbuster news:

  • [By Jake L'Ecuyer]

    Leading and Lagging Sectors
Industrials sector surged 0.85 percent, saw Arrowhead Research (NASDAQ: ARWR) as the top gainer. Meanwhile, other gainers in the sector included ION Geophysical (NYSE: IO), with shares up 6.1 percent, and China Distance Education Holdings (NYSE: DL), with shares up 5 percent. Another under-$10 nanotechnology player that's quickly moving within range of triggering a big breakout trade is Arrowhead Research (ARWR), which forms, acquires and operates subsidiaries commercializing innovative nanotechnologies. This stock has been on fire so far in 2013, with shares up a whopping 284%.

If you take a look at the chart for Arrowhead Research, you'll notice that this stock has been uptrending strong for the last five months, with shares soaring higher from its low of $1.81 to its recent high of $8.88 a share. During that uptrend, shares of ARWR have been consistently making higher lows and higher highs, which is bullish technical price action. Shares of ARWR took out some near-term overhead resistance levels on Friday at $7.84 to $7.99 a share. That move is now quickly pushing shares of ARWR within range of triggering another big breakout trade.

Market players should now look for long-biased trades in ARWR if it manages to break out above Friday's high of $8.37 a share to its 52-week high at $8.88 a share with high volume. Look for a sustained move or close above those levels with volume that hits near or above its three-month average action of 500,600 shares. If that breakout hits soon, then ARWR will set up to enter new 52-week high territory, which is bullish technical price action. Some possible upside targets off that breakout are $11 to $12 a share.

Traders can look to buy ARWR off weakness to anticipate that breakout and simply use a stop that sits right around its 50-day moving average of $7.10 a share. One can also buy ARWR off strength once it starts to clear those breakout levels with volume and then simply use a stop that sits a comfortable percentage from your entry point.
