Best Supermarket Companies To Buy For 2015

The U.S. indices struggled to find an identity early in today’s trading, as was the case with stocks from around the globe. With a lack of economic data, big name earnings, or any other catalysts to push stocks higher or lower today, stocks were at mercy of traders’ sentiment, which eventually turned bearish. As such, the major indices finished slightly lower by the end of the day’s choppy trading, with the S&P 500 ending a 7-day winning streak.

Stocks on the Rise

Shares of supermarket operator Kroger (KR) rallied today after the company posted second quarter earnings that pleased investors. Dunkin Brands (DNKN) shares saw a bit of a pop as well after it announced that it signed agreements with franchise groups in the U.K. to open Dunkin Donuts stores across the pond. Furthermore, Linn Energy (LINE) shares were in positive territory after it announced the acquisition of some oil and gas properties in the Permian Basin. Disney (DIS) shares saw a pop today also following an intraday report that it would buyback $6 billion to $8 billion worth of shares.

Fair Value: In calculating fair value, I consider the NPV MMA Differential Fair Value along with these four calculations of fair value, see page 2 of the linked PDF for a detailed description:

    1. Avg. High Yield Price
    2. 20-Year DCF Price
    3. Avg. P/E Price
    4. Graham Number

CTBI is trading at a premium to all four valuations above. The stock is trading at a 53.5% premium to its calculated fair value of $29.43. CTBI did not earn any Stars in this section.

Dividend Analytical Data: In this section there are three possible Stars and three key metrics, see page 2 of the linked PDF for a detailed description:

    1. Free Cash Flow Payout
    2. Debt To Total Capital
    3. Key Metrics
    4. Dividend Growth Rate
    5. Years of Div. Growth
    6. Rolling 4-yr Div. > 15%

CTBI earned one Star in this section for 1.) above. A Star was earned since the Free Cash Flow payout ratio was less than 60% and there were no negative Free Cash Flows over the last 10 years. The company has paid a cash dividend to shareholders every year since 1988 and has increased its dividend payments for 33 consecutive years.

Dividend Income vs. MMA: Why would you assume the equity risk and invest in a dividend stock if you could earn a better return in a much less risky money market account (MMA) or Treasury bond? This section compares the earning ability of this stock with a high yield MMA. Two items are considered in this section, see page 2 of the linked PDF for a detailed description:

    1. NPV MMA Diff.
    2. Years to > MMA

The negative NPV MMA Diff. means that on a NPV basis the dividend earnings from an investment in CTBI would be less than a similar amount invested in MMA earning a 20-year average rate of 3.41%. If CTBI grows its dividend at 1.5% per year, it will never equal a MMA yielding an estimated 20-year average rate of 3.41%.

Memberships and Peers: CTBI is, a member of the Broad Dividend Achieve

AUXILIO, Inc. previously reported financial results for its quarter ended June 30, 2013.

For the three months ended June 30, 2013, AUXILIO reported that recurring service revenues increased by $1.4 million from new contracts closed between May 2012 and April 2013; however revenues were $9.8 million, a decrease of 8% when compared to revenues of $10.7 million in the same period of 2012, due to a drop in equipment revenue. Equipment sales were $800,000 as compared to $3.1 million for the same period in 2012. Cost of revenues were $8.2 million for the three months ended June 30, 2013, as compared to $9.3 million for the same period in 2012. This drop was due to the drop in equipment sales offset by additional staffing and service costs from the higher recurring service revenue. Gross profit for the second quarter of 2013 was $1.6 million, or 17% of sales, compared to $1.4 million, or 13% of sales, for the same period of 2012. This improvement is a direct result of the large growth in new facilities that we added in 2012 coupled with the reduction in costs as AUXILIO program matures within these new accounts.
